Foundation
The Adult Academy offers the foundational courses of the Korea National University of the Arts to adult learners by adjusting the level of class difficulty.
This 'process-oriented' program encourages learners to solve real-life problems by adopting an open mind and developing their creative thinking skills. The program equips students with a 'basic framework' of culture and art, rather than delivering detailed information on art and its various techniques.

  • The Adult Academy Foundation is a 3-year course, and a graduation exhibition is held after course completion.

Children’s Academy
The Children’s Academy is a program centered on the theme of drawing and sculpture based on the rich educational infrastructure of SOMA, which includes the SOMA Drawing Center and the Seoul Olympic Sculpture Park.

The Sculpture Academy for Children is heavily based on the rich educational contents of the Seoul Olympic Sculpture Park, named as one of the world’s five largest sculpture parks.
The Academy encourages students to explore and take diverse artistic approaches to sculpture. Through the program, students gain a basic understanding of sculpture, materials, space, and sculpture throughout history and develop a deeper appreciation of sculptural works.

3rd grade of elementary school or older
Curriculum
4 years (8 semesters) / once a month, four classes per semester

  • 1st Year
    • 1st Semester :
      Basic elements and principles of sculpture, and trips to the Seoul Olympic Sculpture Park (pre-school included)
    • 2nd Semester :
      Materials and processes of sculpture, and experiencing materials with sculptors
  • 2nd Year
    • 3st Semester :
      Classification and interpretation of sculpture, and appreciation of sculpture works
    • 4st Semester :
      Understanding and expressing various spaces of sculpture

    • 5st Semester / 6st Semester :
      Understanding the features and expression techniques of sculpture throughout history

      Understanding and practicing docent, writing scenarios, and making presentations

  • The Sculpture Academy for Children accepts new student applications every spring semester.
  • The research class (5th, 6th semester) and docent class (7th, 8th semester) are optional and can be taken after completing the regular classes (1st–4th semester).

Drawing
Academy
for Children
Focused on the practical skills that form the basis of drawing and all visual arts, this program encourages students to express their thoughts by observing and understanding different objects and implementing diverse drawing techniques.
In this course, a systematic curriculum that explores basic formative elements, such as form, color, and space, and focuses on various methods of observation, is used to help students gain a deeper understanding of drawing.

Elementary school students in 1st–4th grade

2 years (4 semesters) / twice a month, 8 classes per semester
